A 44-year-old man, found guilty of raping his sister, has been sentenced to eight years behind bars, North West police said yesterday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court imposed the sentence on Tuesday.
The man was convicted of raping his sister three years ago, on June 20, 2013, in Boitumelong near Bloemhof.
North West Provincial Police Commissioner Baile Motswenyane welcomed the sentence.
She said the police in the province would continue to work hard to ensure that those who transgress the law were dealt with effectively.
