The Cape Flats diva with the golden voice, Salome Damon Johansen, is hosting her much- anticipated solo concert this weekend.
The Diva of Cape Town’s show, titled, What I do Best, is named after her hit song.
The Mitchells Plain songbird says she is excited to be hosting her own concert for a change.
The singer has been going around Mitchells Plain schools looking for talented youngsters, and those selected will be sharing the stage with her this weekend.
“I’m happy and so excited to be showcasing not only myself but various other talents from around Cape Town,” she says.
“I’m challenging myself to do a Zulu song as well and fans can expect a lot of dancing from me.”
Salome says she stays close to her roots in her community of Lentegeur and visits regularly.
“My family still lives in Mitchells Plain and I regularly visit my mommy or the old-age home to spend time entertaining the elderly… it’s my passion,” she says.
The venue is the Grace Performing Arts centre in Parow tonight and tomorrow. Tickets are R150 each at the door and at Computicket.
