South African teenager Luther Singh is reportedly a target of Real Madrid.
Real’s second team want the 18-year-old striker in Roberto Carlos’ Castillo (second team) side.
But Singh’s former Stars of Africa Academy mentor Farouk Khan says the player’s Swedish club GAIS is no rush to loss a player who scored seven goals in 15 starts for them last seasons.
Khan tells Kickoff: “He is a little bit disheartened at missing out on the opportunity to go to Madrid now, but being 18 gives him the opportunity to be a bit more patient.
“To be honest with you we did not expect him to do so well so soon. Real Madrid’s ‘B’ team would have been a fantastic platform for him to play in. Hopefully they retain their interest, but I have learnt in football that you have to strike while the iron is hot.”
