Team South had a horror show in the Sevens event against Australia yesterday losing 12-5 in their final group stage.
Playing in the quarterfinals late last night against the same opposition after the Aussies finished as the best third-placed side, South Africa looked nothing like the team they did on the opening day of the event.
Conceding penalty after penalty in the first half, the Aussies entered the break with a 12-0 lead after two tries – and desperate for more points that would bolster their points-difference column and give them a better chance of going to the playoffs after losing to France the day before.
But South Africa finally kicked into gear in the second half with Seabelo Senatla scoring the Blitzbokke’s only try of the encounter.
