Gay community crowns their champion.

On Saturday, the gay community is crowning the fairest in the land.

The finalists of Miss Gay Western Cape are taking to the stage to strut their stuff in a bid to win the coveted crown.

Now in its 8th year, this annual event brings together the LGBTI community and showcases why Cape Town is considered the most gay-friendly city in Africa.

There are 13 beauties vying for the title of Miss Gay Western Cape 2016.

Last year’s queen Camille Von Zuush will be on hand to crown her successor.

Entertainment will be provided by the likes of X-Factor South Africa winners Four and SA’s Got Talent finalist Manila Von Teez.

Tickets have been selling fast this week, and are available from Computicket at R150.

The show starts at 8pm and is taking place at the Joseph Stone Auditorium, Klipfontein Road, Athlone.

It’s the start of the V&A Waterfront Summer Session this weekend and first on stage at the Amphitheatre is Daniel Baron.

The SAMA award-winning singer and songwriter will perform his popular rock, pop and dance music hits, including his number one hit single from his debut album, It’s Time.

The performance is free and starts at 6.30pm on Saturday evening.

There will be performances every weekend on either a Friday or a Saturday night until 3 January at the Waterfront Amphitheatre, and you can look forward to see Jimmy Nevis, Monarck, The Rudimentals, Richard Stirton and Chris Werge in action.
