One killed in attack on Hard Livings.

A gang war is set to erupt in Manenberg following an attack on two gangsters in which one was killed.

Two members of the Hard Livings gang were shot by suspected rivals, the Clever Kids.

Neil Smith, 36, was gunned down in Flora Court on Tuesday afternoon.

His brother, 24, who did not want to be identified, says Neil was hit nine times.

“They (gunmen) first shot someone on the other side then came this way,” he says.

“My brother was walking in the court when they saw him and opened fire.

“They shot him nine times in the neck, chest, side and head.”

The brother admits Neil was a gangster.

“There wasn’t a war before this shooting so we don’t know why they came here,” he says.

“Now there will probably be a war between the gangs because of this.”

The young man says the second victim is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot while getting out of a taxi.

Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk says no arrests have been made.

“A case of murder (and attempted murder) was opened for further investigation,” Van Wyk says.
