Liverpool are desperate to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League.
The Reds take on Sevilla in the second-tier final tomorrow night (kickoff 8.45pm).
After losing the League Cup final to Manchester City in February, goalkeeper Simon Mignolet admits the Europa League represents the potential to save their season – and that the Wembley defeat will prove to be an important experience ahead of their game with Sevilla.
The Belgian says: “We know we can save our season by |winning this trophy, especially as we would qualify for the Champions League.
“Liverpool has a history of winning trophies both domestically and in Europe.
“We went to the final of the League Cup this season and lost in the cruelest way.
“But now we have a great chance to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League, which would be a massive boost for the club and for the young players in the squad.
“We’ve already had the experience of a shootout in a final this season but I don’t want to think about this going to penalties.”
Midfielder Emre Can adds: “I’ve never won a final with Liverpool up to now – and I want to win that final and my first |trophy with Liverpool.
“Sevilla know how to play in the Europa League. They’ve won the last two Europa League titles, and so it will be a very tough game, but if we show what we are able to do as a team then we can win the final.”
