A disabled woman who was arrested for laying a false charge of rape walked out of court a free woman.
The 48-year-old wheelchair-bound woman from Gansbaai appeared in Hermanus Magistrates’ Court on a charge of perjury on Monday.
But according to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila she left the court a free woman after charges were withdrawn.
“The charges against the accused were withdrawn on humanitarian grounds as she is very sick,” he explains.
Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana confirms the woman was arrested after cops uncovered her lies.
A medical test revealed she was not raped.
