R30 000 for burn patients

Fireman’s Ball hosted to raise funds for the burns unit.

Firefighters have donated R30 000 to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital’s Burns Unit.

Yesterday the cheque was handed over to the director and volunteers of the Friends of the Children’s Hospital.

The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services hosts the annual Fireman’s Ball to raise funds for the burns unit.

The initiative has been running for five years and has provided funds to the organisation that helps provide non-medical care to the children and their families.

The organisation’s director, David Stephens, says they are grateful for the ongoing support by the city’s firefighters.

The City’s Safety and Security boss, JP Smith, says this is firefighters’ way of showing support for victims of fire.
