Man bust at airport during a routine check.

A man was arrested over the weekend as he was found in possession of around R3.9 million in his luggage, SARS said yesterday.

Sars spokesperson Sandile Memela said the man was travelling to Dubai from King Shaka International Airport in Durban.

“The traveller was profiled for a routine check, where scanned bags were found with currency of R3 972 400. The man was handed over to the SA Police Service for further investigation,” Memela said.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a detector dog sniffed cargo shipment with hair shampoo bottles that it found to be filled with 6kg of cocaine valued at R1.7 million at OR Tambo International Airport.

The shipment was handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
