Cape Town is making the jol vol at the finals of SA’s Got Talent, happening on Sunday.
Drag diva Manila von Teez is the fourth Capetonian to join the top six.
Like Manenberg songstress Phoenix, and singer Derek Plaatjies (from Saron, now living in Muizenberg), Manila got the most public votes during the third semifinal round on Sunday.
Phoenix, aka Bernadette Adams, bounced back from jail time in Italy for smuggling drugs, to singing her heart out for the nation and she says she’s reg vir aksie.
“I know what I want to sing on Sunday I’m just not going to say because it will spoil the surprise,” says Phoenix
Derek has been a hit on the small screen and social media and his supporters sharing their love all through the reality show.
He is also not rekking his bek about what he has planned for the grand finale but says on Facebook: “This means so much to me. You showed me that you cared about this Saron boytjie. Your votes = your love and support. My hart wil bars! Finals, hier kom ons!”
Both Phoenix and Derek have had a week or two to prepare and calm their nerves, but Manila say she has to scramble.
“By Thursday we go into rehearsals so I don’t even have a week to prepare,” she laments.
Manila is sommer staying on in Joburg for the week, where she has been joined by her back-up dancers for Sunday’s show.
For the semifinals, Manila performed Ariana Grande’s Break Free and says: “It was all great until the wig thing happened.”
Near the end of her energetic performance, Manila’s blue wig went flying, exposing her swirlkous on stage.
“In a way it was a good thing because the song was about moving through different costumes and breaking free and I did that at the end,” she says.
But sy’s min gespin of her hare skannes, and is keeping here eye on the R500 000 grand prize.
The finale of SA’s Got Talent is at 6.05pm on e.tv on Sunday, November 5, and will be decided by a public vote, so please mense, go buy your airtime beforehand and keep the Kaap on top!
