PSL: The stars to watch

Gearing up for a big season, Jody February

Keep an eye out for these talented players.

With the PSL season around the corner, we look at stars that are expected to shine this season.

Enjoy our pre-season XI:

GOALKEEPER: Jody February (Ajax Cape Town)

The departure of Anssi Jaakkola to English side Reading will finally give the 20-year-old a chance to stake his claim for the No. 1 jersey.

RIGHTBACK: Thamsanqa Gwabeni (Platinum Stars)

Just to show how talented he is, Gwabeni’s idol and the club’s captain Vuyo Mere will be moved to central midfield this season to accommodate him at rightback.

LEFTBACK: Justice Chabalala (Orlando Pirates)

The lanky lad from Giyani is a confident and calm centreback who is strong aerially and comfortable on the ball.

RIGHTBACK: Ramahlwe Mphahlele (Kaizer Chiefs)

Mphahlele will have to lead the Chiefs’ defence in the absence of Mulomowandau Mathoho.

LEFTBACK: Mosa Lebusa (Ajax Cape Town)

Lebusa goes about his job with no frills as he does the basics right.

RIGHTWING: Nduduzo Sibiya (Golden Arrows)

Sibiya has the carefree nature of a youngster and the intelligence of a seasoned campaigner.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Lucky Mohomi (Mamelodi Sundowns)

There are six million reasons why he is a star – that’s how much Sundowns reportedly spent to bring the lad from Mamelodi home.

When  Dan Malesela was making Chippa United dance last season, Mlambo was the conductor of that tune.

LEFTWING: Bernard Morrison (Orlando Pirates)

He can play on either flanks as well as the second striker.

STRIKER: Charlton Mashumba (Highlands Park)

With the ambitious Lions of the North, he can finally show his ferocious bite in front of goal.

STRIKER: Andrea Fillecia (Maritzburg United)

With his prolific form in front of goal, he could have challenged for the Golden Boot award last season.
