The “relentless” Proteas crushed Australia by an innings and 80 runs and are now going for a whitewash Down Under.
Kyle Abbott (6/77) and Kagiso Rabada (4/34) ripped through the Aussies to take eight wickets for 32 runs in the morning session of Day Four as South Africa sealed a series 2-0 win.
And fired-up skipper Faf du Plessis claims they are now going for the kill after sweeping the Baggy Green away 5-0 in the recent ODI series.
Ahead of the final Test in Adelaide, SA’s first under lights, Faf says: “That’s the mission for us now. We want to do that very badly.
“We’ve got Australia in a position where they’re under pressure and won’t let that go. It’s hard enough to get them in this position so we’ll do everything we can to keep them there.
“To come here and win 2-0 is special. Proud of the way the team is moving forward. It’s really special for us to do this,” Faf added at the post-match presentation.
“We rocked up today, wanted to come back and be relentless. All our bowlers were exceptional. I am so happy for Abbo. He won a massive game of cricket for us.
“Vern too, on a wicket like that, doesn’t give you much to hit. Set the tone for us. Our catching was phenomenal. We are relentless. We give nothing away.”
