ANTAGONIST: Pastor Steven L Anderson

Pastor Steven L Anderson, an evangelist from the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Arizona in the United States, first grabbed national attention in his own country in 2009 when he said he was praying for the death of President Barack Obama.

The service itself was titled “Why I hate Barack Obama”.

He said he didn’t encourage his followers to attack the president but that Obama should die of natural causes, because the president supported abortion.

Anderson was then listed as a pastor who had “extremely radical standards” with beliefs based on scriptures from the Old Testament book of Leviticus and also the New Testament book of Romans, that homosexuals, if judged according to the Law of Moses, should be put to death.

During a recorded sermon in 2014, he called on all gays to be executed.

The following year, he argued in a documentary called Marching to Zion, that the anticipated Jewish Messiah is the Antichrist.

He also had a run-in with the law after he refused to move his car or roll down his windows at a roadblock at the United States Border Patrol. Cops broke his car’s windows, beat and shocked him repeatedly with a taser.

He pleaded not guilty to resisting of a lawful order and was acquitted.
