Consumers should brace themselves for price hike next month.

The price of petrol is likely to increase by at least 40 cents per litre in October.

The current price of fuel is R11.69, after it dropped by 18 cents a litre this month.

The latest figures from the Department of Energy is showing that a price hike is inevitable.

September so far has seen an average petrol price under-recovery of 43 cents a litre and with just two days left to be factored in, a price rise of between 40 and 45 cents is looking likely, according to IOL.

The diesel price is likely to get a 20-25 cent hike.
