They were down 10-3 in PE as well, but led by Strauss, the Bokke again staged a successful comeback.
Of his skipper, Coetzee says: “Adriaan has been appointed as captain for the rest of the year.”
Of winning his first series in charge of the Boks, Coetzee adds: “We started the series with a loss and we were 19-3 down in Johannesburg.
“And here [in PE] we were really put to the test, so I am very pleased in the result and series win. The resilience and character of the team really came through. We fought in the trenches and played Test rugby out there.”
“It was not attractive, but we needed to win.”
