Westend rocks for cancer fundraiser.

On Friday night at Westend it was a regte party with a purpose at the Rocking 4 Cancer fundraiser.

Proceeds went to the Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC), as October is Cancer Awareness Month.

Spotted in the crowd was Expresso host and TV personality Katlego Maboe who came out to support the cause to assist cancer survivors and their families.

He tells the Daily Voice: “I’m not an official ambassador, but this is a really good cause.”

Katlego was not alone, he had girlfriend Monique Miller at his side and she was also happy to support.

There was kwaai musical variety on stage, from jazz to RnB, rap and even Afrikaanse treffers.

Selwyn McKeet from Westridge in Mitchells Plain was there with all his close friends and he wanted everyone to know why this jol was so important.

Pointing to the picture on his T-shirt, he says: “We’re here in memory of Sharon Malan, who passed away this year.”

Candice Marais and her hubby Leheino from Vredenburg said even though it was a long drive, they were determined to show their support.

“We came all the way from Vredenburg because our friends invited us and we wanted to show our support,” she tells the Daily Voice.

The party is not the end of the fundraising drive though, and mense were encouraged to show their support and make donations to CHOC. Contact details can be found on their Facebook page.
