Pagad member and community activist Aslam Toefy appeared briefly in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of the illegal possession of ammunition.
Toefy was arrested in August after cops raided his two homes in Schaap Road, Schaapkraal.
Police officers in 10 vehicles arrived to swarm over his two properties, while a police helicopter hovered over the area.
The search and seizure went on for hours and police officers could be seen carrying several loaded black bags and forensic bags from the house.
The media were barred from taking photos of Toefy as cops formed a
circle around him as they escorted him off the property.
On Monday Toefy was again supported at court by People Against Gangsterism and Drugs leader Abdus Salaam Ebrahim, but the pair refused to comment.
In court, State Prosecutor Xolani Ntozini asked for a final postponement for the investigation to be completed as there is still some forensic evidence outstanding.
Toefy is out on R2000 bail and Magistrate Keith Le Keur postponed the matter to January 25.
