A man from Scottsville who had just celebrated his 60th birthday was tragically killed in a hit and run on Frans Conradie in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The family of Steven John Felix says he was looking forward to his first pension payout.

Steven was last seen by family members at about 8pm on Saturday evening when he was on his way out.

His sister Jacky Felix, 52, says her brother was rammed down in a 60km/* zone.

“He would have received his first pension on the first of the month and was so looking forward to it. Now he has been ripped away from us by someone who refuses to take responsibility for his actions,” she says.

“[The motorist] just drove off. He must come forward and take responsibility for what he has done. Something has to be done in our communities about these reckless drivers. Speed is what killed my brother,” she says sadly.

Lieutenant Colonel André Traut confirms a case of culpable homicide is being investigated.

“This office can confirm that a culpable homicide case docket is being investigated after a 60-year-old man was killed in a hit and run accident on 28 May at 12.10am in Frans Conradie Drive in Kraaifontein. No one has been arrested as yet.”
