There were tragic scenes on Ou Kaapse Weg on Sunday afternoon after a five-year-old died in a car crash.
The tragedy happened in Silvermine when an SUV and bakkie collided.
ER24 paramedics, along with Metro and other services, arrived at the scene and found both vehicles on the side of the road.
It was found that both vehicles were badly damaged in the collision, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring had confirmed.
“When paramedics got there they found an unknown man performing CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation] on the five-year-old boy,” says ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.
Tragically, the boy died at the accident scene.
Meiring adds: “Unfortunately, after one hour no vital signs returned and the boy was declared dead on the scene.”
He adds: “It is understood that one man and the two children had been travelling in the SUV when the bakkie swerved into the path of the SUV. Local authorities were on [the] scene for further investigations.”
The other child, also aged five years old, was injured and rushed to hospital.
