To kick off the season, Marmalade Productions brings us Divas of Dance at the Grandwest Arena this Saturday, 4 November, for one night only.
So put on your dancing shoes and go and enjoy some of the biggest dance hits from yesteryear, nommers that ruled the club scene and got us moving.
Marmalade always goes the extra mile by bringing us the international stars who resonate so well with Cape Town, from Symbol to All-4-One, and this time round it will be no different. The line-up includes three huge dance music stars which ruled the roost in the ’80s and ’90s - they are the divas Blackbox, Sonia and Lonnie Gordon.
Now I know sometimes our people tend to know the song but not the name of the artist so let me enlighten you soe ’n bietjie.
Black Box gave us the hit Everybody Everybody which was then remixed by us Capetonians to Jou Ma en Pa is Ninja Turtles ow.
Sonia gave us the evergreen You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You, with lyrics that went on: “It doesn’t really matter what you put me through, you’ll never stop me from loving you”.

And last but certainly not least is Miz Lonnie Gordon, who made the jol ruk back in the day and even now with the all-time Cape favourite Gonna Catch You.
HITMAKER: Lonnie Gordon to perform all of her hits
These songs are what put the ladies on the map, but be assured they are more than just one- or two-hit wonders, so prepare yourself for an unforgettable jol.
Now it is important for us to understand that even though they are all overseas acts, the Marmalade team is our mense, so let’s support this local Cape Town production company, which is striving to bring us nothing less than the best with every show they produce.
Organisers promise that the show is set to transport you back into time, to your young days when life was good, you had no worries and your Nevada, Grassies and check shirt were your favourite clothes.
A time when you could still walk to Westridge City, and the brasse and kinnes used to wait for the blues numbers, timing it so they could slow-dance with the kin you were timing while everybody was oppie vloer.
This show is an opportunity for the tanies to come out and skut their biscuits one last time in the firm belief you need to just sometimes let your hair down.
Ticket prices range from R295-R495 at Computicket and a birdie whistled in my ear that tickets are almost sold out.
