LOOP HULLE LEEUS: Lions representing Mzanzi

Munier is a true blue Stormers fan, always will be.

But this weekend he’s shouting for the team in red.

The Lions, who take on the Hurricanes in the Super Rugby final in New Zealand tomorrow morning, have won over the hearts of almost all South African rugby fans.

And they have given us hope for the future of the Springboks with their exciting, attacking, running rugby, and confidence to overrun the best sides the Kiwis have to offer.

Johan Ackermann’s boys have showed local rugby teams that there are ways to win games other than the outdated and predictable game plan of “kick for territory and form a rolling maul from the lineout”.

The team of largely no-name players are jolling with ’n skrik vir niks brand of 15-man rugby, which many are calling All Blacks rugby.

But when you’re running with ball in hand, passing, offloading and scoring loads of tries, isn’t that just good rugby?

Whatever you want to call it, it’s great to watch the manne from Johannesburg doing their thing, and donnering the best teams in New Zealand and Australia.

Let’s hope they can do it again tomorrow.

Even if they don’t come back with the trophy, they will have done South Africa proud.

And looking ahead, Munier hopes that Bok boss Allister will take a few pages out of the Lions’ playbook.

Toetie, who had always come up short at Super Rugby level with his conservative skop en donner game plan, must realise that this is the way the Bokke can conquer world rugby again.

Lions jou lekker ding!
