I love the swagger of Manchester United fans right now, as they believe it’s the year of the return!
I’m going with it, giving all the props, “yep, you guys are looking amazing”. But, in reality, are we really seeing significant change?
I’d say yes, a bit. They look more confident and are quicker on the ball, but the reality is they’ve played West Ham, Swansea and Leicester.
They’ve got nine points and scored 10 goals. Sounds good, right? Well, last season, the same three games yielded nine points and they scored nine times.
It’s basically the same, so they’ve spent another £150m to gain an extra goal!
They were also top of the league after three games last season.
This is why I’d be a little cautious.
But yeah, it does feel different and I guess we should expect them to be back on top at the end of the season.
What was really pleasing for me (as a perennial hater), was a really k** Romelu Lukaku performance.
Have you ever noticed that “k**” is in the middle of his surname?
Meant even more as every other Fantasy League player in the world has him as their captain!
He was back to his Emile Heskey-eque best, big lump running around doing f*** all.
It was an average performance against Leicester, 2-0, deserved it, but it hardly set the stadium on fire.
The opposite can be said at Anfield. And, boy, that drubbing sent Gooners over the edge. Again fighting amongst each other and turning on the players and board.
It had to be a painful week for them, what with all their rivals in the bag for the Champions League draw, losing to Stoke and then getting annihilated by the Scousers.
On top of all that, the Ox turning down a huge salary offer and Sanchez grinning to himself on camera in the dugout while they were getting run ragged.
Of course, the rest of us were waiting, popcorn in hand, for the release of latest Arsenal Fan TV vids on YouTubeand they didn’t disappoint.
It was the type of result Jurgen Klopp really needed.
Early days, but his team has looked a bit disjointed.
They caught Arsenal at their worst, exploited it and we’ll probably see stronger team performances in the coming weeks.
Staying at the top and I’m still baffled by the lack of progress Manchester City have made.
The biggest resources, one of the world’s best coaches (apparently) and they look worse than they were a couple of years ago.
And Pep Guardiola has said repeatedly how “proud of his players” he is?
Am I missing something here?
They look like a bunch of overpaid primadonnas who ain’t giving 100 percent.
I tipped them as runners-up this season but the way they look right now I wouldn’t bet on that.
And then of course, finishing up the pre-season favourites for a top four finish is Chelsea. Remember 10 days ago, the “crisis” club?
Haha, that didn’t last long, did it?
All you muppets who were talking about another “10th place” naively stating “yaaah, Chelsea are season-on-season- off” and believing media hype that Antonio Conte was about to be sacked oh shut up, will ya.
It seems like it’s very much on track again after a commanding victory over Everton.
The Toffees didn’t really turn up, to be honest, which created a training match atmosphere bit boring!
There’s no doubt the Blues have to sign at least two players before the window shuts at 11pm UK time on Thursday.
The squad is too light to compete on all fronts.
I’m expecting quite a bit of movement...
Anyway, to all you Manchester United fans, into the international break top of the League...enjoy it while it lasts!
