With summer just around the corner, prepare yourself for a host of outdoor events.
Speaking of which, the House of Knowledge Montessori pre-school in Mitchells Plain is hosting the biggest family fun day at Ratanga Junction this coming Saturday.
fundraiser at Ratanga Saturday
With the amusement park set to close down in May 2018, this is an opportunity for Capetonians who have never been to Ratanga Junction to tick it off their bucket lists.
Nowhere else in Cape Town can you experience the thrill of the Cobra, the Monkeys Falls, the Congo Queen and all the other fun rides the Mother City’s favourite theme park, and I believe only theme park, boasts.
It’s a win-win as you will be supporting a good cause.
The family fun day is a fundraiser for the pre-school/ madrassah, that desperately needs an upgrade.
The House of Knowledge Montessori invests most of their profits into empowering their teachers by creating funding through events like this.
Most of the teachers are from the community of Mitchells Plain.
The pre-school recently employed a qualified psychologist which they hope will bring about even more positive change in the lives of their pupils.
Many children have to live with gang violence, while some also experience domestic problems.
The spokesperson and owner of the pre-school, Noorun-nisaa Abrahams says: “Ons wil ‘n pre-school innie Mitchells Plain create wat op die standard is van die pre-schools in die upmarket areas, maar daai kos geld.
AMBITION: Spikesperson Noorun-nisaa Abrahams, without cap
“We hope people will support our fun day so that we can make this a reality.”
She says the House of Montessori is in touch with the community, hence they negotiated a good deal with Ratanga Junction that they promise won’t break the bank.
Full-rider tickets are selling for only R120 and non-rider and mini-rider tickets are selling for a low R80.
So if you’re wondering, so what does the non-rider supporter do at Ratanga?
Well for one, you get to spend the whole day in the ambience of a theme park, take lots of selfies, buy yourself lekker dite while enjoying the free entertainment that will be on display.
The entertainment line-up includes the likes of singer Ashur Petersen, comedian Waseef Piekaan and more.
No tickets will be sold at the gates so it is best to pre-order your tickets from Noorun-nisaa Abrahams on 079 976 9373. You can call, SMS or Whatsapp.
Tickets will still be available on the day of the event, so call her before making your way to the theme park.
The family fun day takes place on 16 September from 10am to 5pm.
