Hahaha, you thought Chelsea were pissing the Premier League away and then BANG, fortress Goodison gets obliterated by the mother of all bombs after the Blues – or should I say, the "Champions of England" – destroyed one of the best sides in the division
It was a classic and clinical Chelsea performance. It wasn’t hurried, but controlled and perfectly executed at the right moments.
Ok, Pedro’s screamer came out of nowhere, but the second half couldn’t have been more professional.
And all at such a nervy point of the season, where a loss would have thrown the league wide open.
I couldn’t believe how good we were?
It’s amazing how a terrible performance two weeks ago can be followed by such top-end outings, both of which confirming the very real possibility of a massive League and FA Cup double for the Blues.
And where’s all the mail and all the debates I was having about Chelsea’s style and game plan being “sussed out”?
Even Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has adopted Antonio Conte’s all conquering back three!
I must admit though, as much as I hate Tottenham, a lot of my mates support them and it must be terrible to – once again – have so much hope, only to come crashing down in that all too familiar Groundhog Day demolition.
Was that honest? Naaaah, probably not.
I’m not even gonna attempt to talk about Arsenal’s show at White Hart Lane, and after such a great win against City in the FA Cup?
It was a joke, they should have lost 5-0, with the active Petr Cech keeping it from what should have been a rout.
It was a massive Sunday and, of course, it wasn’t all about the title race itself. I was amazed to see such a complacent Manchester United side get matched by Swansea at Old Trafford?
Again Jose's men looked mid-table, missing that cut and thrust we’ve come to expect over the years.
A great point for the Swans and well deserved. Especially after such a mental penalty decision for one of the most blatant dives of the season.
Much the same can be said about Manchester City as they salvaged a point at Middlesbrough, although they at least carved out quite a few decent opportunities.
While Chelsea winning the leage has – again – become boring, it couldn’t be any more exciting as the traditional ‘biggest’ clubs in England battle it out for European football.
It’s amazing how everyone bought into the hype of Jose and Pep at the start of the season, with the reality being – despite huge money spent again – that they languish 15 and 16 points off the top with four games to play.
That’s a really kak return and so may it continue!
I’m particularly happy that Pep has struggled, something few of us predicted, but he’ll be eating his words about the Premier League, how the standard isn’t great and being no more intense than La Liga.
He’s been properly exposed. Yeah, I know it’s only his first season, but we were all led to believe he a supernatural tactical geniusbollox, get a physical side pressing a bunch of Tiki Taka w***** and it often falls apart.
Down at the bottom, the fight for survival also looks set to go to the wire and despite Boro’s unexpected point against City, they’ve got to be going down with Sunderland.
Looks like the last casualty is either Swansea or Hull, with my money on a last-gasp survival special by Swansea despite Hull’s two-point advantage over them.
