And then there were three.
It’s looking like the fight for the PSL title will be between Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City FC.
Even though City lost at Maritzburg United on Monday, it worked out that Sundowns losing at Wits later in the day was good for them.
If Downs had won then the Citizens would have been four points behind, but as it stands they are only two off the top.
And right now anything can happen, they could even be back on top come Friday.
BUT and this is a big BUT they have to be better against Free State Stars.
At the Harry Gwala Stadium they were so flat it was shocking.
They had no goal attempts at the end of the first half and were just lucky not to be a goal or two down.
There was only one team in the first 45 and it wasn't the brasse vannie kaap.
Although they were better after the break Kurt Lentjies’ free kick six minutes from time gave the hosts a deserved win.
I don’t really know how to explain it but even coach Tinkler said they deserved to lose.
Tinkler has a terrible record at the Harry Gwala as a coach and maybe his nerves or his energy filtered through the team, who knows?
What I do know is that if they play like that against a Free State Stars team fighting for their lives, they will be punished.
City are already on the back foot having played a game more than the top two, who can make it a two-horse race if they win those games in hand.
But as mentioned earlier they got lucky on Monday and now they need to take the gift and run with it.
Their destiny is not in their own hands we know that but if they win all their games (easier said than done I know!) and the others drop points literally anything can happen.
Tinkler must get the minds right though, they can’t come all this way only to fade at the end.
