Whenever a team is running away with the league, the hope is that they lose every week.
Not just because y’all hate Chelsea, but you just want to see a competitive end to the season.
So have it, enjoy it and hope the Blues drop a few more points over the next couple of weeks!
Of course, the truth is I was completely gutted. Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke were brilliant, probably the most difficult players Chelsea’s formidable defence has faced this season.
But guys, the result doesn’t mean – as a lot of you are saying – that this is the beginning of a flop?
OK, it is possible and the gap might be down to four points after Chelsea play Manchester City tomorrow night. But two easy fixtures follow against Bournemouth and Manchester United, so it’s all good!
What base level critics don’t see, is that Chelsea were actually good on Saturday, created enough chances and on another day could have strolled it. That’s not taking anything away from Palace, who deserved something out of the game.
You’d still have to be a brave, crazed punter to put money on anything else except a Blues title win.
I’ve got to take this opportunity to say thanks to the Gunners for putting in a half decent performance on Sunday for a change.
They matched City, coming from behind twice to give each side a worthless point.
Arsenal fans should feel a sense of encouragement given that they were only playing with 10 men.
I mean, do you remember Mesut Ozil touching the ball?
Conversely Leroy Sane is turning out to be proper quality for City.
He was great at Schalke, but his initial couple of months were awful.
I guess a classic case of “adjusting” to the English game. He was a constant threat and Chelsea will be very conscious of closing him down as a main priority tomorrow.
Liverpool were strong this weekend, made relatively easy work of the Merseyside derby, and Spurs put in a solid and professional outing at Burnley.
Guess that leaves us with the remaining top-four hopeful, Man United.
Looking at their home stats, it really doesn’t read well for Mr Mourinho.
As much as it feels like they’re better than the last couple of seasons, factually it’s inaccurate.
It must feel rotten for United fans given the pre-season boasting and belief that football was coming home to Old Trafford.
Jose, Pogba, Zlatan It was game over before it even started.
The dire 0-0 home draw against West Brom extended their unbeaten Premier League run to 19!
That’s big, right? Well, Mourinho’s team now rank 10th in a Premier League table based on home results, behind Leicester, Burnley and West Brom amongst others.
And somewhat astonishingly, they rank 14th for home goals, that’s fewer than Swansea, Leicester, Burnley, Watford and Hull.
Where’s your Zlatan saviour now, chaps? OK, I’m just trying to make myself feel a bit better
