An elderly man has been arrested after he drove over a traffic officer when he allegedly refused to stop at a road which was closed after a burst water main.
The City’s Safety boss JP Smith says the incident took place on Wednesday just after 2.30pm in Park Road, Rondebosch.
The traffic cop was called to close the road and diverted traffic to Campground Road.
But an elderly man who refused to stop, drove over cones and rammed into the officer leaving her with injuries to her legs.
The driver was arrested and will face charges of attempted murder and reckless and negligent driving.
