Samurai Karate hosts a Rugby Day fundraiser at Erica Park.

Help karate dojo raise funds at sports day.

There’s a fundraiser for a really good cause happening in Belhar on Sunday.

The team from Samurai Karate at Matroosberg Dojo are hosting a Samurai Sevens Rugby Day at Erica Park at 9am.

Sheikh Kashief Damon has been training Cape Flats youngsters since 2009, teaching them martial arts skills.

This year they have 10 students who have qualified for the World Championships in Berlin, Germany, happening next week.

The holy man says they still need a few rands to send the team off, hence the fundraiser, which he hopes people will come out to attend in their numbers.

Sheikh Damon says: “We have secured a lot already, but we still have a balance on most of our deposits, that’s why we are having the Samurai Rugby Sevens. Our appeal is to whoever can donate a R200 towards a Karateka and whoever can do better, please do so.”

But mense can also support by showing up for the rugby event where Suidooster and Four Corners actor Abduragmaan Adams will be the MC.

There will be food stalls and lots of entertainment for the whole family. Entrance is just R10.

It’s still school holidays and Disney On Ice: Worlds of Enchantment, playing at GrandWest, will keep the young ones entertained.

Disney classics like The Little Mermaid, Cars and Toy Story 3 along with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy  and for the first time in South Africa  Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff from animated film Frozen are part of the show.

Tickets available from Computicket and cost R150-R350 per person.
