Prince Nxumalo will be looking to breathe some life into Ajax Cape Town and Wits’ “dead rubber” final PSL clash today (3pm).
The Urban Warriors hitman, who missed out on Bafana Bafana selection for the Afcon qualifier against Gambia, can still claim the Golden Boot this term if he can outscore Black Aces’ Collins Mbesuma, who is in action against Free State Stars.
Prince, with 13 strikes, is one behind the Zambian.
And for Ajax boss Roger de Sa, the match is an opportunity to look at his options for next season when he hopes to improve on the club’s disappointing 10th-place finish this term
De Sa says: “It’s a bit of a dead rubber really; it’s one of those where I think Wits are pretty safe where they are. We are not going to get too much movement, we might move one or two places up, we can’t go down.
“It’s one of those games where it is a preparation for next season, to look at what we have and where we are going, and to give more guys a run again and see where we are.”
“We would have liked to be playing for more, [but] the game is going to be about a bit of pride and the rest is just preparation for next season. I’m not sure, I think Wits’ coach will do a bit of a mixture and I think that he wants to be a bit competitive.
“I can imagine that he wants to give a couple of players who |hadn’t had a run a chance.”
