Ajax Cape Town boss Roger de Sa doesn’t believe that Wits will have an MTN8 hangover when they face off tonight (7.30pm).
De Sa’s manne experienced a moerse babalas when they won the early-season tournament.
Ajax beat Kaizer Chiefs in the final last September and then failed to win another game until the new year.
Wits have shown signs of being less than focused after getting knocked out of the Telkom Knockout by Free State Stars 3-1 on Saturday.
But De Sa doesn’t believe Gavin Hunt’s men will be as swak when at Cape Town Stadium.
He says: “I don’t like to believe that. We had that problem. But for a squad as deep as theirs, that won’t happen.
“I’m sure we can’t worry about their hangover.”
Ajax’s defence has been left exposed at times this season and has become prone to slip-ups.
One reason for that is that
skipper Travis Graham is the lone defensive midfielder protecting the back four.
Midfielder Ndiviwe “Diva” Mdabuka was one of Ajax’s stars in their run to the MTN8 final last season.
And De Sa believes that after a slump in form, Diva is coming back to his best and can help out in the
midfielder against Wits.
The boss says: “He was having a tough time. He had lost his form. [But] he is bouncing back and could be in the team.”
