The murder trial of 33-year-old Zarah Jane Hector, which was set to resume in the Western Cape High Court on Monday, was delayed because an outstanding forensic report would only be available next week.
The mom of two from Kuils River was bludgeoned to death and her body dumped in March 2016.
Prosecutor Maria Marshall told the court the missing report would be ready on 27 November.
“The outstanding forensic report, which is the last DNA report, I am assured, will be ready on Monday morning,” said Marshall.
Renaldo van Rooyen, 33, from Kuils River and Tawfeeq Ebrahim, 26, from Tuscany Glen, are charged with murder, defeating the ends of justice and robbery of a vehicle.
They allegedly blud-
geoned Zarah to death with a hammer over money she owed Van Rooyen.
Zarah was last seen alive by Renaldo’s mother on the morning of 15 March in her home. Her body was found 10 days after she disappeared, dumped on a farm in Klein Drakenstein.
Ebrahim has confessed to police to helping move Zarah’s body, claiming his co-accused killed her in his garage.
But Van Rooyen denies killing her, claiming in a police statement that when he returned to the scene of the murder, Ebrahim had already killed her.
Judge Lister Nuku postponed the matter to Monday.
The accused will remain in custody until their next appearance.
