The 17-year-old Bishop Lavis singer was the last to perform and sang Sia’s hit, Cheap Thrills. Her performance included a bedroom-to-club scene, where she “made it rain” with special Paxton money.
But her act didn’t sit well with the judges.
Randal called it “timid” and “tepid”, Somizi warned that she was “in danger”, although Unathi commended Paxton for her commitment.
Speaking to Daily Voice on Wednesday, Paxton said: “Sunday’s show was very exciting, it wasn’t such a good week for me but I’m glad I made it to the Top 7.”
Paxton says she hopes her performance was good enough for her fans.
“Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me and voting for me,” she says.
“The competition gets tougher every week but I’m focused on being consistent and doing my best.”
Idols has also turned into a bit of Russian roulette – from now on, at any time during the show, an elimination can be announced.
Before the individual performances, Tee was eliminated from the Top 8 and viewers will need to wait till Sunday to see if Paxton garnered enough votes to make it through to the Top 6.
The power is in your hands and to vote for Paxton, simply SMS 08 to 37400 or vote online.
Idols SA season 13 is on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161 on Sundays at 5pm.
