Two men died and another man was injured when a truck and a car collided in Atlantis yesterday morning.
It’s believed the victims were a learner driver and his instructor.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene and found both vehicles on the side of the road and the light motor vehicle was trapped under the truck.
He said rescue technicians stabilised both vehicles and called a rescue crane to assist. Emergency services found the bodies of two men who died as a result of their injuries, he said.
The driver of the truck had no serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Rescue technicians were able to lift the truck off the light vehicle and free the bodies of the two deceased men.
“It is believed that one of the deceased had been undergoing a driver’s licence test at the time of the collision,” Meiring said.
Local authorities were on the scene to conduct further investigation, he said.
