Charges of attempted murder against three suspects in connection with a shooting at a larney Camps Bay club have been withdrawn, police confirmed yesterday.

The trio appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

“[Charges were] withdrawn in court. They were subsequently released and the case is still under investigation,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut.

National Prosecution Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila added that the case “was not enrolled as there was not a prima facie case against the accused”.

The three were arrested at the upmarket Café Caprice club on Victoria Road after two people were shot and wounded at about 1am on Monday.

Police recovered a white VW Polo Vivo and also found a replica firearm in the boot.
