The body was found on Monday afternoon by a dog, who started eating it.
Daily Voice visited the cemetery on Tuesday where security guards and council workers said the baby’s body was found near the Muslim burial sites.
They explain it was not found by workers, but instead a dog who had allegedly took a bite of the baby’s flesh.
“They saw the dog was eating something and before they knew about the baby, one of the guards said, ‘no man, this is too big’. Then he ran and saw the dog was chewing the baby,” said a council worker.
Security guards said the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached. Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says: “A concealment of birth case was registered for investigation.
"A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.” Kensington Community Police Forum (CPF) spokesperson, Cheslyn Steenberg, says they are shocked and appalled at the incident.
“We want young ladies who find themselves in this situation to reach out. There are social workers and institutions who will take the children. This is very inhumane,” he says. Anyone with info is asked to call the investigating officer on 021 594 7033 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
