Sebastion Swartz, the owner of Drive Right in Airport Industria, says the car has been in his workshop for almost four years.
He says the owner, whom he only knows as Daryl, came to the workshop after a referral from a friend in 2014.
“He knows my buddy and brought in a red Toyota Conquest. It is a 1998 model and we had to replace the clutch, brakes and give the car a full service,” explains Swartz.
ABANDONED: Toyota Conquest gathering dust
Swartz says two days later he called the owner on the contact details provided and the man said he would pay the bill and collect the car, but he never pitched.
“First he said he was having money problems, but that he would come. The human resources department kept calling him, but [there was] no response.
“We spent about R9 500 on the parts and the labour and until today we have not been able to find him.”
Swartz says the car is taking up valuable space in his workshop and is collecting dust.
“I just don’t know what to do because we don’t have other contact details for him. What do I do with this vehicle now?
“I can’t just cut it up for parts, that would be criminal but it is almost four years now and I am just fed-up. I just want him to come pay me what he owes me and take his car and go away.”
Anyone who knows the owner of the vehicle is asked to call Swartz on 083 591 4804.
