The elections have gone to the dogs, thanks to the SPCA.
The Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals erected posters across the Kaap with a dog as their mascot and it reads: “Vote for me. I won’t let you down.”
Although there will be no four-legged friends on the ballot paper tomorrow, the SPCA is hoping to still get a vote of confidence for their furry friends.
Spokesperson Belinda Abraham says their election campaign is definitely worth barking about.
She says: “The furry candidate calls for voters to vote for the loyalty and companionship of shelter dogs by choosing to adopt.”
And in case mense wanted to take home that doggy on the poster, Belinda says: “The dog on all the posters is Sage, a Labrador cross who was adopted from the SPCA.”
She adds: “We have so many beautiful animals waiting for homes and we hope to encourage the public to adopt from us as opposed to buying animals from unscrupulous breeders, which only perpetuates a cycle of cruelty and neglect.”
