Police are looking for the owners of cricket gear worth R25 000 that was apparently stolen.
The kit was found in the possession of two men in Grassy Park.
The two were spotted on Tuesday morning, pushing a trolley with a black bag inside, so cops decided to search them.
The officers from Grassy Park SAPS were on patrol in Italian Road at 10.15am on Tuesday when they noticed the two men.
“Upon stopping them‚ members searched the bag and found cricket equipment to the value of R25 000‚” Captain FC van Wyk said yesterday.
“The two males could not give a reasonable explanation to where they got the stuff and they informed members that they were about to go and sell it at a second-hand dealer shop.”
The two were arrested on charges of the alleged possession of stolen goods.
The stash included cricket bats, balls, pads, wickets, helmets, a few skipping ropes and tennis balls.
Grassy Park police said they’ve received no reports of stolen items fitting the description of the cricket kit.
