Cape Town Car Clubs are calling on Capetonians to help a Manenberg family rebuild their lives after they lost everything in a fire last weekend.
The home of ouma Linda Hendricks, 85, was completely destroyed on Sunday 12 November and the family had the added stress of dealing with opportunistic skelms who used the fire to steal from them.
Two bedrooms, the kitchen and the bathroom of the main house were destroyed and the blaze caused the roof to collapse.
Daughter, Audrey le Hane, says this week heartless skelms again tried to break into the house to steal anything they could find in the rubble.
Her mother has now been booked into hospital for stress.
Manenberg resident and member of the Cape Polo Car Club, Simone Jacobs, says she got a skrik when she saw the condition of the house and decided to help.
She posted pictures on Facebook calling for donations to help the family, and the post was shared over 150 times.
This Sunday various car clubs will gather at Vangate Mall to collect donations to help the family move on.
They are calling on Capetonians to help by donating clothing, blankets, groceries, toiletries and other items.
They will meet at the mall at 2pm and after all the donations are collected they will drive in a carcade to hand over the goods.
Anyone who would like to help is asked to call Simone on 060 792 1881.
