A 13-year-old girl who went missing in Steenberg is still being sought, and a reward for information leading to her safe return has now been increased to R20 000.
Rene-Tracy Roman disappeared on Friday, March 10, just after 2pm.
The girl left her St Agatha Crescent home in Montague Village to buy a packet of chips, but never made it to the nearby shop, which is visible from the house.
Chairperson of the Steenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF), Lucinda Evans, yesterday said the search is still ongoing.
“We are pleading for anyone who has any information or knows anything about the disappearance of Rene-Tracy, to please come forward. We appeal to the person who has her to please bring her home,” an emotional Evans said.
Evans explained that the reward money has been increased from R10 000 to R20 000, and that the money was donated by a concerned member of the public who wished to remain anonymous.
Rene’s stepfather, Mervyn Jacobs, says although it’s now been a week since the teen disappeared, they are not losing hope that she will be returned unharmed.
“We want to thank the person who has increased the reward amount. Our family is broken and we don’t want to think negative, but time is running out now and I don’t know what to think anymore," Mervyn said.
“My wife Chrissandre is hurting the most at the moment. Rene is the eldest and we just want her home."
Rene was last seen wearing a pink sleeveless top, black tights and sloffies. She is 1.5m tall, has green eyes and long black hair.
