The Ithuba Powerball lottery winner has stepped up to claim the mega jackpot he won in Tuesday's draw.
The winner of the R87 624 435 PowerBall jackpot is believed to be a teacher from Limpopo.
The winner bought a R20 quick-pick ticket just an hour and 15 minutes before the draw at a Global filling station in Marulaneng, Mokopane, but only lodged the claim five days after the draw.
The newly-made millionaire is set to receive his full R87.6m once Ithuba completes the validation process.
Ithuba lottery spokeswoman Zuki Nomnganga said the winner would be making his way to Joburg and the validation process would be completed on .
“We have validated that the ticket the winner has is indeed a winning ticket, however validation goes beyond that. We have to do our validation questionnaires.
“This is a very sensitive matter and we need to protect the identity of our winner. Once the validation is complete and the winner is announced then we can be a bit more open,” said Nomnganga.
