A 23-year-old pizza delivery man was held at gunpoint in Muizenberg on Monday night and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash, the pizzas he was to deliver, a cellphone and his scooter.
The pizza had been ordered from a shop in Tokai.
The traumatised man was given a lift back to the store by residents in Midmar Road.
The scooter, fitted with a tracking device, was traced to Avenue La Brenton in Coniston Park.
Police Spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says members of Muizenberg SAPS immediately responded and proceeded to the address, where they recovered the stolen motorbike and arrested eight people.
“The suspects, three females aged 28, 30 and 37 respectively, and five males aged between 25 and 68, were arrested and detained at Muizenberg SAPS on charges of robbery and possession of stolen property,” says Captain van Wyk.
“The suspects are due to appear in court soon.”
