The 16-year-old son of a Cape Flats pastor has been murdered right in front of his home.
Police were called to Ouplaas Street in Wesbank on Sunday at 4pm where the body of Roman Hartnick, 16, was found.
It is believed Roman’s parents were at a prayer service when tragedy struck.
The teen’s dad is the pastor of his congregation in Mitchells Plain.
Roman was shot in the head and collapsed in the street.
It is unclear how many times the teenager had been shot.
It is also not clear how many shooters there were, and whether they were on foot or driving a car.
According to residents and family members, Roman did not attend school but was not a gangster.
Residents claim the gunmen also targeted Roman last week Saturday when he was walking with a group of friends.
They chased him but he managed to evade them.
However, “they returned on Sunday” and killed the teen.
As the teen’s family gathered outside at the scene, a comforter was placed over his body while police carried out their investigation.
The father is also said to own a funeral business and that Roman was actively involved in helping his dad.
Yesterday, Roman’s parents were not in a state to speak when the Daily Voice visited their home.
The couple had just returned from identifying their son’s body at the mortuary.
His mother sat shaking in the lounge, surrounded by concerned relatives.

“According to reports the incident occurred at Ouplaas Street, Wesbank where a 16-year-old male was shot in the head.
