At least five complainants have now come forward in the case against the holy man and the NPA expects more to be added at a later stage.
The pastor cannot be named yet as he has not pleaded, but was arrested last month.
He allegedly befriended boys between the ages of 14 and 17 through social media and exchanged naked photos with them under the pretext of being a girl.
When the boys decided to stop, he would then threaten them with online exposure of their pictures,” said Advocacy Manager Joanne Barrett of the organisation Women & Men Against Child Abuse.
Most of the boys went to him for advice on how to handle the online bully, and he advised them to listen to the bully.
The man was nabbed after a parent came
forward.
The NPA’s Eric Ntabazalila said on Wednesday: “There are currently four or five complainants but more are likely to be added at a later stage.”
He said the youth pastor also faces a charge of failing to report knowledge of the commission of a sexual offence with children.
The suspect is currently out on R1 000 bail, and is back in court on December 13.
