Ouma burns to death in ‘arson’ attack

Willovale police in the Eastern Cape are investigating a case of arson after a 70-year-old woman was discovered burnt to death at her home.

Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said the woman was discovered by her grandson at her home in Nkanku Location, Chafutweni Village over the weekend.

The elderly woman was staying alone at the time.

“The family of the deceased said that the house was first doused with petrol before being set a light. They were the first to arrive on the scene,” Manatha said.

The motive for the attack is unknown. No arrests have been made.
