ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu said yesterday all ANC MPs derived their mandate from the party and would not take any instruction from any other party.
Opposition parties have been saying in the past few weeks they have spoken to some of the ANC MPs who were willing to vote against Zuma.
They said a total of 79 ANC MPs are needed for the motion to succeed.
But Mthembu said: “We are waiting for that vote of no confidence to defeat it.”
The judgement on the Constitutional Court case brought by the UDM against the Speaker, Baleka Mbete, was reserved this week after arguments by all parties.
