Two men were handed life sentences for a robbery and murder committed in Nkandla two years ago.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Shooz Magudulela, said Zibuke Siphesihle Ngcobo and Thamsanqa Ngubane, both 29, were sentenced to life in prison plus 15 years for robbery.
Ngcobo and Ngubane had held up a tuck shop owner at gunpoint and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash.
They also demanded the car keys before shooting the shop owner, Thokozani Dladla, who died on the scene.
“Charges of murder and robbery were opened at Ekombe police station for further investigation. The culprits were apprehended and made several court appearances until they were sentenced,” Magudulela said.
