Bobby Nitro has been carrying on about personal responsibility for some time now, but the hard truth is that we don’t all take responsibility for our actions, therefore as a society, we elect other people to make sure, as far as they can, that we stick to our commitments.
These people are called the police, and in the case of us in our cars, the traffic police.
Bobby can hardly imagine a more thankless job, after all, who thanks to a traffic cop for pulling him over after he’s blown that red light, or swerved dangerously under the influence of alcohol. Nobody likes being busted.
However, if you’re the potential victim of a senseless crash, and a cop is able to pull that irresponsible person off the road before he causes that crash, then you’d certainly be thankful.
Traffic cops help us stick to the rules of the road, which are there because we asked for them to be there. We asked for the rules because the rules, even though they are not perfect (what is?) keep us safe. So when a cop does his job, props to the cop.
