A dom poacher was arrested after he tried to smokkel fresh abalone in a sakkie on a train in Kalk Bay.
The suspect, who thought no one would smell his fishy stash, is the second person to be busted on the train within six days.
Law Enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, says the suspect nogal tried to bribe officers with the perly in a bid to evade arrest.
“Law Enforcement officers in Kalk Bay again spotted an adult male on the train transporting a bag of alleged freshly poached abalone,” he said.
“The male suspect tried to bribe the officers and when that failed, resisted arrest and was transported to Muizenberg SAPS where he was charged in terms of the Marine and Living Resources Act.”
Meanwhile, a woman was arrested in Retreat by Law Enforcement cops and the Social Housing Unit. Officers noticed the vrou acting suspiciously and, when spotted, ran into a property in Blagden Avenue.
She was found with mandrax and dagga and is currently being detained at Steenberg SAPS.
“The drugs consisted of the following: nine half mandrax tablets wrapped in foil, three mandrax tablets wrapped in foil and 10 dagga stoppe were also found. The 27-year-old suspect was transported to Steenberg SAPS,” Dyason added.
Last week, Law Enforcement issued 2 830 fines, 210 compliance notices, impounded 1 577 items, impounded two vehicles and arrested nine people for various offences.
